The Center for Animal Referral and Emergency Services (CARES) is partnered with IDEXX Reference Laboratories.
Dr. Liz Little is a clinical pathologist for IDEXX with her office in the CARES facility.
This arrangement allows CARES to provide our referring veterinarians and their patients with a full service reference lab, including chemistries, urinalysis and serology tests. In-house stat results for cytologic samples include: CBC with pathologist review, cytologic evaluation of joint fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, effusions (including pleural, peritoneal, pericardial), tracheal wash, fine needle aspirates and blood smear reviews with same day reporting on weekdays. In addition, local clinics can utilize the cytology service for emergency/STAT samples if they have an established IDEXX account.
This relationship brings the IDEXX gold standard reference laboratory directly cage-side for our patients. It also delivers unprecedented diagnostic laboratory quality control and immediate reference laboratory turn-around time for our patients.
The CARES location is IDEXX's first facility in the Philadelphia area. More than 4,500 tests, including IDEXX's exclusive next generation diagnostics, such as Cardiopet® proBNP, RealPCR™ and Lyme Quant C6®, allow CARES doctors, nurses and staff to continue providing a gold standard of excellence that our referring veterinarians and their patients have come to expect.
