Dr. Lisa Ziemer is a board certified veterinary radiologist, who has offered a wide variety of imaging services at CARES since 2005.
CARES has a state of the art digital imaging system that allows veterinarians to obtain the highest quality digital radiographs. Images are available on computer terminals throughout the hospital, which enables veterinarians to quickly and easily access all patient studies. The images are of the highest quality available at this time, which aids in diagnosis. Dr. Ziemer interprets radiographs both for CARES clinicians and for outside hospitals.
Dr. Ziemer also performs ultrasound examinations of the abdomen, thorax, and musculoskeletal system. Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging modality that provides real time imaging of internal organs. Dr. Ziemer also performs numerous ultrasound guided fine needle aspirates and biopsies to obtain tissue for cytologic or histopathologic diagnosis.
In 2007, CARES acquired a computed tomography (CT) scanner. CT scanning provides our clinicians with cross sectional images of the head, spine, thorax, abdomen, and extremities. The addition of CT scanning to our practice has given us the ability to diagnose disease in many parts of the body that are not possible to image with ultrasound or plain radiographs. Examples include images of the brain, nasal cavity, and spinal canal.
